Galería Reus is a contemporary art gallery based in Mallorca whose trajectory dates back to 2003. Over the years, the project has evolved through different forms of collaboration and programming, consolidating itself as a space dedicated to the research, production, and dissemination of contemporary art.

The gallery works with emerging and mid-career artists, supporting the development of their practices while creating a context for dialogue, experimentation, and reflection around the diverse forms of contemporary artistic expression. Its program is characterized by a diversity of languages and approaches, as well as an interest in establishing connections between the local artistic scene and the international context.

From Mallorca, Galería Reus aims to actively contribute to the contemporary cultural ecosystem by promoting projects that encourage exchange, artistic research, and the development of new perspectives.

TextRicardo Cases (Alicante, 1971) holds a degree in Information Sciences from the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao. In 2006, he became a member of the Blank Paper photography collective. In 2009, together with designer Natalia Troitiño, he founded the publishing house Fiesta Ediciones.

Since 2007, he has worked as a lecturer at LABASAD, EFTI, and CASA.

He has published the books TOT (Dalpine–Torch Press, 2022), Parques infantiles (Dalpine, 2021), Estudio elemental del Levante (Dalpine–Torch Press–The Ice Plant, 2020), El blanco (Dalpine, 2016), El porqué de las naranjas (Mack Books, 2014), Podría haberse evitado (Dalpine, 2015), Paloma al aire (Photovision–Schaden–Dewi Lewis, 2011), La caza del lobo congelado (Fiesta Ediciones–University of Cádiz, 2009), and Belleza de barrio (University of Extremadura, 2008).

“His photographic work is always connected to human longings: the deep and universal aspirations of the citizen in mass society, who struggles against banality in an effort to transcend and confronts his dignity within an often unglamorous environment. To this end, he directs his gaze toward expressions of contemporary folklore, seeking the truth of the Spaniard understood as a man from the provinces forced to live in the city, in modernity. Beyond a pop, detached, and cynical appearance, he is interested in the human and anthropological. Beyond the social and documentary, he is drawn to the sincere and universal impulses that beat beneath the banal, kitsch, and unglamorous surface of contemporary Spain.” — Luis López Navarro

Through his various projects, he has held numerous solo and group exhibitions and has received distinctions such as the Community of Madrid Culture Award in 2017, the FNAC New Talent Photography Award in 2008, the ArcoMadrid Photojournalism Award in 2007, and the OFE Grant from the University of Extremadura in 2006.
