Galería Reus is a contemporary art gallery based in Mallorca whose trajectory dates back to 2003. Over the years, the project has evolved through different forms of collaboration and programming, consolidating itself as a space dedicated to the research, production, and dissemination of contemporary art.

The gallery works with emerging and mid-career artists, supporting the development of their practices while creating a context for dialogue, experimentation, and reflection around the diverse forms of contemporary artistic expression. Its program is characterized by a diversity of languages and approaches, as well as an interest in establishing connections between the local artistic scene and the international context.

From Mallorca, Galería Reus aims to actively contribute to the contemporary cultural ecosystem by promoting projects that encourage exchange, artistic research, and the development of new perspectives.

MIQUEL PONCE

Biography
Miquel Ponce (Valencia, 1997) holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s degree in Artistic Production from the Universitat Politècnica de València, and completed an Erasmus scholarship at Technological University Dublin. His work has been exhibited in institutions such as the Museum of the University of Alicante, Casa de Velázquez in Madrid, the Reales Atarazanas, and the MuVIM in Valencia. He has collaborated with galleries including We Collect (Madrid), Volta Art Gallery (Valencia), and Berlin Gallery (Seville).

Ponce has participated in several artist residencies, among them the Artistic Creation and Research Residency at MUA (Alicante, 2020) and the Artistic Production Grant awarded by the BilbaoArte Foundation (2021). His practice has also been recognized with awards and grants such as the VEGAP Creation Grant (2021). He was a finalist in PAM!PAM!21 (2022) and has contributed to projects including Mostra Art Públic / Universitat Pública (2022) and TEST (2024).

Ponce’s artistic practice is rooted in painting, which he approaches as residue, trace, and imprint. His works reveal signs of wear, manipulation, and the passing of time. Chance and material deterioration are central to his process, prompting a reflection on image-making and the crisis of visuality while opening new possibilities for pictorial language. His paintings invite a tactile encounter, questioning representation through the physicality of materials and the constructive nature of the medium. In his practice, the abstract image emerges as the residual imprint of the creative act itself—transforming painting into a remnant that speaks both of its time and of its own condition.
